When Will Travel to Israel Resume?

After a record-breaking year for Israeli tourism in 2019, the corona-virus pandemic has brought international travel to a halt in early 2020. Now industry workers and travel lovers are left wondering: when will Israel travel resume?

In early April, the Israeli government suspended all commercial flights in response to the coronavirus. Since then, several airlines have added limited routes and announced plans to resume Israel travel in May and June.

Since the list of airlines and flights to Tel Aviv during COVID-19 is constantly changing, it can be quite confusing. Ben Gurion International Airport has experienced a flight reduction of close to 99% compared to the usual schedule of flights to Tel Aviv. Limited options include rescue and cargo flights, in addition to the daily United Airlines route between Newark, New Jersey and Tel Aviv. However, as restrictions are slowly eased, flights to Israel in June 2020 began resuming gradually.

At the moment, entry to Israel is only permitted for Israeli passport holders, residence visa holders, and passengers with specific entry approval. In addition, anyone returning from abroad is required to remain isolated for 14 days, in accordance with government directives for entering Israel.
